We are excited to announce that applications are now open to join the staff team for this 2024 incredible event in Interlaken, Swiss, from October 26 to 27!

Application Process Deadlines

 

End of Application: Final deadline for all applications is September 22.

Review: Acceptance and declines reviews will be sent by the last week of September.

 

I encourage you to apply as early as possible to secure your place for this event. The first wave of selection will cover the majority of the positions, particularly for Leadership roles and half of the team. The second wave will be used primarily to adjust staffing based on specific needs. Not being selected in the first wave does not mean your application is not valued; it simply means it will be considered in the second wave for any specific requirements.

 

 

APPLICATION ROLE

Scorekeeper

 

- Compensation: 200€/day

 

The Scorekeeper is responsible for timely tournament starts and managing player registration before the beginning of each event. This specialized role requires a strong understanding of event management software and excellent organizational skills. You will ensure that all players are correctly registered, handle tournament logistics, and maintain accurate records of match results. If you fit this role, you already know the attention to detail and technical proficiency required.

Team Leader

 

- Compensation: 180€/day

 

As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing specific tasks within the event. Your duties include preparing and coordinating team members to ensure these tasks are executed effectively, such as managing queue lines, assisting with deck checks, or organizing player flow. You will also report the progress of these tasks to your supervisors, ensure deadlines are met, and address any issues that arise. Excellent communication and organizational skills are crucial for this role.

Floor Judge

 

- Compensation: 150€/day

 

As a Floor Judge, you play a vital role in ensuring the proper application of Magic The Gathering’s rules, including comprehensive rules and event policies. You will monitor matches, intervene in disputes or ambiguous situations, and provide clear explanations and rulings. Your dedication to customer service and maintaining fairness is essential. You must be attentive, impartial, and well-versed in the game rules to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all players.

The Head Judge position for the whole weekend is not available.

 

COMPENSATION

 

Regarding compensation, the organization offers several options:

 

Invoice-Based Compensation: This formal method involves providing compensation through invoices. If you have a sole proprietorship and can issue an invoice, you will be compensated accordingly. While this approach ensures clarity and a formal structure, it may involve administrative tasks and additional contributions, such as URSSAF payments, for the individual.

 

Payment for Expenses: The association will issue a PayPal payment for the agreed amount, intended to cover all expenses related to your participation, including travel and accommodation.

 

Additional Support

 

The organization also offers additional compensation to support your participation:

 

Accommodation: We will cover the cost of one night in a partnered hotel for staff working two days. Accommodations will be in shared rooms, ensuring a comfortable stay close to the event venue. Please note that the reservation is managed by us, and no refunds or compensation will be provided for additional or alternative accommodations.

 

Meal Vouchers: Each day, a meal voucher will be provided to help cover your dining expenses. These vouchers can be used at various food outlets within the event, including food trucks on-site.

These additional benefits are non-transferable, non-refundable, and unique to each individual. No replacements will be provided for lost or unused benefits. This policy ensures proper management of resources and fair distribution of compensations.

Attire During the Event

 

For the event, please ensure your attire is professional and appropriate. Your dress code should be:

 

Sober and Black: Opt for simple, black clothing that is clean and well-maintained.

Appropriate Shirt: Wear a Magic Judge polo or shirt suitable for a judge's role.

Comfortable Shoes: Choose comfortable footwear suitable for long periods of standing and walking.

Please note that specific polo shirts may be provided for certain roles during the event.

 

Each staff member represents not only the organization and their team but also the broader field of the judge community. Therefore, we expect your presentation to reflect the high standards and integrity associated with the role of a judge.

 

Shift Details

 

Most shifts in such event usually start between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM and end between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Some shifts may be longer depending on whether you are scheduled for early or late shifts, as well as for specific roles that require additional time for tournament preparation and other duties.

 

Extensions beyond these standard shift times may be necessary to accommodate event preparations and special requirements.

 

We will ensure that breaks are provided during shifts to maintain comfort and efficiency.

 

 

‍⚖️ Judge Space

 

There will be a designated Judge Space where you can rest, enjoy a coffee, candies or other beverages, and have some snacks. This space is designed to be only accessible to staff members.

Please keep the area clean and orderly to maintain a positive community atmosphere. Although a security team will be in place to ensure the peaceful operation of the event, and access to this area will be strictly restricted to staff, the organizer disclaims any responsibility for personal belongings or equipment left in this space.

Data Privacy and Retention

All data collected through this form will be used solely for the purpose of organizing and managing the event. In compliance with GDPR regulations, all personal data will be securely stored and will be irretrievably deleted two months after the conclusion of the event.
