There is no provision in the MTR 7.5 (Sealed Deck Swap) for registering the lands from Khans of Tarkir that Fate Reforge boosters will have.

I did not judge Competitive events at the time of Dragon's Maze, but I assume that the lands are supposed to be registered and swapped.

Can someone confirm that this is the case?

Only Non-Foil Basics are not registered. Tokens and filler cards are also kept by the registering player.

Players will register all the other lands and swap when necessary.

I'm assuming that this question is coming up because some non-English product is going to have basics mixed with non-basics in the land slot?

I'd probably have players actually register the basics in this case, just to keep pool sizes uniform and to prevent other errors that start with, “Oh, I thought it was 80 cards because there were four basics…”

While the Fate Reforged checklist ( http://wpn.wizards.com/sites/wpn/files/attachements/128_z2774_001_frf_deck_checklist.pdf ) doesn't have a space to mark your Polluted Deltas and other fetchlands that you may open in your Fate Reforged boosters, this is not likely to be a problem as if you're in any event which requires deck reg, you'll also be using Khans cards and so will have a Khans checklist too. So just mark them off on that.

Ah, Mark, thanks for that reminder - please remember that deck registration is not recommended for prereleases - in fact, it's discouraged, quite firmly. Only do reg & swap if your players absolutely insist on it.

And, given that, this question is rather moot for at least a couple weeks - perhaps longer. (Plus, I suspect Mark's point is as much answer as we need for Comp REL, anyway…)

I got some reports of basic lands in FRF italian booster packs. It can very well be a one in a million thing, but I want to add here that draft will be FRF+KTK+KTK, so the land in the first pack will have to stay in the pool until picked, even if it is actually a basic.

I don't believe this is correct. The MTR in section 7.7 says “After picking up the booster, players should remove and keep any non-foil basic land cards”. This may have the effect that some boosters will have one fewer card to pick from, and that some players may end up with one more or fewer card; if it does, then so be it.

Someone at Wizards, who has seen the Italian uncut land sheets, said this shouldn't be possible (but notes that stranger things have happened). If the “impossible” actually does happen, I'd consider treating that pack as defective, and replacing it.

From what I have seen so far, most FRF portuguese booster packs (40-50%?) bring a basic land.

That's also because in Portugese, Russian, and I think Korean (not sure on Korean,) it was stated that the basic land could appear as there is no other means of acquiring them, which I assume would be the fat packs.

My understanding is languages that get neither fatpacks nor intro packs have basic lands on the land sheet.
