I guess this is sort of tournament operation related… ish.

What dictates the multiplier of an event? Is there a way for stores to run events with more than x1? Or does it come from types of sanctioned events? Do GPTs have more than x1?

I've had a player ask about this as the store moves to hosting CompREL events and I just didn't know the answer.

I'll confess to being less informed on WPN than I'd like - but then again, I don't work for that company whose name begins that initialism. :)

However, stores do have contacts that work for the WPN, and those contacts should be able to remove the shroud of mystery.

How to get an answer for a player, however, is a different story; I'd just suggest he ask the store owner to ask their WPN rep, and eventually they'll all know!

3x: Grand Prix Trials, WPN Premium Tournaments, Public Events at Grand Prix
5x: Pro Tour Qualifiers, World Magic Cup Qualifiers
8x: Grand Prix
12x: (Lifetime Points Only): Pro Tour, World Magic Cup, Magic Players Championship
