Be the host - Let everyone have fun in our city

I'm very happy to be part of GP Hong Kong this summer because it is a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow judges in my own city! In the past I have always been welcomed warmly by the other judges in their cities, I wish to try my best to be a good host this time. With my experience in that week, I'm now writing this article to introduce some ideas for judges who'd like to help foreign judges to have fun in the city.

- Local snacks for breaks
First of all, snacks. We can take breaks with refreshments in tournaments. It's a good way to introduce to other judges what kind of snacks are popular in your place. Just bring and share what you like to eat is fine. This practice is common practice in GP in Japan as they have a custom of exchanging “Omiyage”(お土産).

- Planning / suggestion for judges' dinner or unofficial gatherings
Yes, judge dinner is always great, it's a good way to let foreign judges to know your city. In this GP Joe and I chose a Chinese restaurant near the judges' hotel and selected some local cuisines. Other than the official one, we may also organize some gatherings for food or sightseeing. As judges are working on shifts, we can write on big white boards in the judges room, or make use of google doc for online registration to get enough people to eat in suitable time slots.

- gift exchange
Similar to exchanging snacks, small gift is also a good idea to share, as I know, some judges like to exchange books too!

- Help to make a travel guide
The last idea I'd like to introduce is to provide content in a travel guide. The guide is always helpful to the newcomers! Since each judge may have his own interest, your contents are unique and could enrich the content of the guide a lot!

Thanks for reading, and see you guys in GPs soon!
