"change any targets" vs. "choose new targets"

Is there any difference at all between “change any targets” and “choose new targets” besides templating? Is there some card interaction where the difference between the two could be relevant?

114.6c If an effect allows a player to “change any targets” of a spell or ability, the process described
in rule 114.6a is followed, except that any number of those targets may be changed (rather than
all of them or none of them).

114.6d If an effect allows a player to “choose new targets” for a spell or ability, the player may
leave any number of the targets unchanged, even if those targets would be illegal. If the player
chooses to change some or all of the targets, the new targets must be legal and must not cause
any unchanged targets to become illegal.

Not that I'm currently aware of.

Remember that posts to this forum get directly emailed to potentially thousands of judges worldwide. While exploring minor templating differences in the interests of understanding their underlying principles may be interesting to some judges (myself generally included) it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, so it's not something we should be filling people's inboxes with.

As such, if it's not something a judge might realistically need to care about in a tournament setting, it's better suited for another venue, such as the Rules Theory and Templating board on the Wizards Community forums.
