Jeskai trigger with only untapped creatures

I had an interesting situation come up at the FNM tonight, now, obviously, I deviated like hell, but I was wondering how other judges think it should be handled at Competitive.

Arnold is playing a Jeskai deck. He has three Goblin tokens in play and a Jeskai Ascendancy. He attacks Nick with the tokens and Lightning Strikes Nick, Arnold loots and untaps his tokens. So far, so good. Now Arnold plays his last card in hand, a Jeskai Charm (four damage on Nick). Arnold doesn't mention anything about the triggers, Nick doesn't block and they come to damage. Nick says ‘take six?’ and Arnold says, ‘no, you take 9.’ At which point two hands shoot up and ‘judge’ is yelled. You come over and Nick says he forgot his triggers for the Charm, Arnold says he remembered them, but didn't mention anything. How do you rule?

Nick takes 9. There's no creatures to untap the 2nd time, the “loot” is a May - Arnold doesn't have to demonstrate awareness of that trigger until it would have an effect on the game state … and that's what he does, here.

That's what I thought, but wasn't sure enough to be comfortable to give this ruling, thanks!
