There is some confusion in
a thread over at MTGSalvation currently about a situation that was dredged up from the forums. Looking through the posts here, I found
a question with a similar premise, but no answer. We would appreciate an fficial answer here.
I control a
Caged Sun (choosing “green”), a
Conspiracy (naming “Saproling”), a
March of the Machines, and a
Life and Limb. Due to dependencies, this will result in the Caged Sun being a forest; if I tap it for {G}, then it's own ability will trigger and add another {G} to the pool. This will again cause itself to trigger, resulting in an infinite loop of triggers. Our question is this:
Is Caged Sun's triggered ability
always a mana ability? After the first trigger in this scenario, it is triggering due to another triggered ability, not triggering due to an activated mana ability, so by the definition laid down in 605.1b it ought not to be a mana ability. Can a trigger sometimes be a mana ability, and sometimes not?
