I believe my reaction to it would be the very same as Scott's, but I like Gareth's best of all in this thread.

I think Evan has a great approach to it, but unfortunately there are some regions where demanding respect doesn't bring you anywhere. I can see myself giving an answer, the player answering me with a blank “sorry”, and not only not learning anything about it, but gloating to his friends how he trolled a judge and got away with it.

Unfortunately, to my community, I believe making the point of “here, you're either cheating, you're stepping down your high horse there” would be the way to go. You know, a more direct educational approach that says you're not supposed to mess with a judge.

That's a dangerous path I won't advise you to follow. If you don't act, you tolerate this kind of behaviour in tournaments. It's not only that player. It's also every nearby player.

A DQ is not needed, but between this there is a lot that could be done, without escalating unneccesarily the situation. Read previous replies, particularly Evan and Scott's :)
