Hello,
We are having a lengthy discussion about loops on the Finnish MtG forum, and we're stuck with one question in particular. In
CR 719.3, it is specified that if both players perform independent actions and return to the same game state, the loop needs to be broken. What are these independent actions? Spells and abilities for sure, but what else? Choices made during resolutions?
In one of our cases we have a player casting Intuition, getting another Intuition, Old Emrakul and some other game winning card. The opponent will always choose to give them the other Intuition, meaning the rest of the cards are shuffled back into the library. Now the first player gets to cast Intuition again and again (we are assuming endless mana or Omniscience on board). Is the opposing player's choice of giving them Intuition time and time again an independent action that warrants a breakage of the loop, and by whom? Does it matter who's turn we are on?
