The Spike Cannibal Gatherer rulings say
10/4/2004 It will move its own +1/+1 counter onto itself, but it does not die during this move since it never is without a counter at a time when State-Based Actions are checked.
This suggests that we remove the counters from him and then put them back – an act that could be influenced by cards like Doubling Season. I don't think this is correct, because CR 121.5 says
121.5. If an effect says to “move” a counter, it means to take that counter from the object it’s currently on and put it onto a second object. If the first and second objects are the same object, nothing happens. (…)
Could anyone please confirm? Who should we turn to in order to have the Gatherer corrected?

Kind regards,

Mario Hassler
