As my most recent FNM, a player asked me if Soulflayer would get hexproof from Knight of Malice's hexproof from white ability. My first instinct was no, but then I looked up the rulings on Knight of Grace/Malice and saw that it's considered a variant of hexproof and is still affected by things like “Creatures lose hexproof” etc.

So my question is, if a Soul Flayer exiles Knight of Malice does it get hexproof from white? Or does Soul Flayer not count the variant of the ability. Again, I'm pretty sure it doesn't, but not a hundred percent.

This particular question has in fact been answered here before–a Soulflayer that exiles a Knight of Malice will gain hexproof from white, in the same way and for the same reason that a Cairn Wanderer will gain protection from white if there's a Black Knight in a graveyard.
